You might find a high-roll Magic or Rare item that beat anything you can get in other items for that slot.
Some only occur in Magic items, where only a maximum of 1 prefix/1 suffix is possible, and can be found on either Magic or Rare items (which can have up to 6 properties). A Magic Find random property is limited only to Amulets, Circlets, Rings, Boots, and Gloves, and not all of them apply to all types or quality levels. On Magic or Rare items, there is a chance to get either a Prefix or Suffix that gives a boost to Magic Find.
